Roger E. Mosley, famous for his role as TC from “Magnum, P.I. “, died on Sunday at 83. Last week, a car crash left Mosley severely injuired. Suffering from paralysis, he was seen last Saturday surrounded by his family who were mourning the loss of their loved one.
As his daughter announced his death, she said he would dislike tears shed in his memory. Now is the time to celebrate the legacy he left behind; he was an amazing man.
More than 150 episodes of Magnum, P.I. featured Mosley as a hit character alongside Tom Selleck.
Along with “Magnum, P.I.,” the Los Angeles-born actor played the role of Coach Ricketts in the 1990s sitcom “Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper.”
He has appeared on numerous popular TV series such as “Sanford and Son,” “Love Boat,” “Kojak,” “The Rockford Files,” and “Starsky and Hutch.”
Born in LA, Mosley grew up in the Imperial Courts public housing in Watts and appeared in a number of films throughout the ’70s, including the crime drama “Hit Man” and the John Wayne drama “McQ”.
Mosley’s character on “Magnum, P.I.” provided representation to the Black community, and he refused to smoke and drink on the show or in real life. Many shared fond memories of watching Mosley onscreen, and one writer said the show wouldn’t be the same without him.
