It is something we can’t live without in this modern era. It makes tasks easier and we use it for everything. The Smartphone can serve as a calendar, alarm, GPS tracker and boredom reliever. Smartphones have advantages and disadvantages – does the good outweigh the bad?

    Mobile Phones advantages and disadvantages

    Advantages Of Smartphones

    1. Privacy

With the invention of smartphones, you don’t have to worry about family members discovering your messages and love letters. Smartphones allow you to store and protect this information. Most smart phones are designed with a phone lock system. You can use a PIN, a code or even your fingerprint to lock your phone. People are prevented from snooping through your private messages. Just make sure they don’t know your password by using a unique code.

    2. Stay In Touch Easily

Your friends and family are just a message away. If you have an emergency, you can text someone and ask for help. You can travel the world and still connect with your family using smartphones. You send them photos and videos so they feel part of your life. Smartphones help shorten the distance between people.

    3. Easy Access To Your Email, Social Networks

The days when we needed a computer to answer an email or log in to our social media accounts are gone. Now you can do just that with your smartphone. It makes everything so much easier. With just a few taps, you can check your email and social media.

    4. Complete Multiple Tasks More Easily

Since there are apps for almost everything, you can finish your tasks much more easily. You can do many things on the go. For example, you can order food while you are on the train coming home from work with just a few taps. If you like a product that you can buy at the store that is not nearby, you can order it online. You can use your phone to write notes, reports, create to-do lists or shopping lists and many other things.

    5. GPS

Your smartphone can act as a GPS device. Many excellent navigation apps will help you find your location with ease. It doesn’t matter if you are a driver or a pedestrian, you will get directions, so you won’t have to go around asking people how to get somewhere. Many of the apps also show places with traffic jams, so this can help you avoid the traffic jam and get there faster.

    6. Entertainment

If you have read the above, you may have come to the conclusion that smartphones are very useful. But not only that. Sometimes we need to relax and have some fun. You can use your smartphone to watch funny videos, listen to music or play your favorite games.

    7. Find something to do

If you’re out with friends or in an unfamiliar city and don’t know what to do next, a smartphone can help. You can connect to wifi or mobile internet and find an interesting cafe, museum, sight, restaurant, etc. You can also check the offers, prices and services, read reviews, etc.

    Disadvantages Of Smartphones

    1. Privacy At Risk

If your phone is stolen, your information will no longer be private. It is very important that you lock your phone and deactivate it. You can inform your service provider that your phone is lost and it will be deactivated. We use our phones to conduct online transactions and sometimes this information is stored. If you are not careful, it is possible that someone could access your personal information. It could be someone close to you who has access to your phone. You need to be careful.

    2. Distraction

You can be easily distracted by a smartphone. You need to be careful because accidents can happen. If you are driving, put your phone away and concentrate. Whatever is on your smart phone can wait until you are home. Don’t risk your life with these portable devices. Social etiquette is another concern. Many organizations will request minimal cell phone use. People tend to lose concentration when they hear a phone ring and someone leaves to take the call. If you are in an important meeting, remember to put your phone on silent. Also, it can be disrespectful when someone is talking to you and you are paying more attention to your phone.

    3. Health Problems

There is some discussion about whether cell phones can cause health problems. Most cell phones emit radiofrequency energy and these can be absorbed by tissues. To eliminate any possibility, limit cell phone use. Lack of sleep is associated with regular cell phone users. You need to rest your body, so try not to stay up late at night on your phone. You are interfering with the rest your body needs. Excessive use of smartphones can even damage your eyes. Phones emit HEV light that can damage the retina.

    4. Addiction

There are interesting games and social websites that can cause addiction. Many people wake up in the morning and check their phones first. Are you one of them? Yes, that’s how important our smart phone has become. It’s the first thing we look at before we say a pleasant “Good morning” to those around us.

    Conclusions

Cell phones have unlimited benefits and some of us can’t function without them. Always keep in mind that there are negative effects associated with extensive cell phone use. To be safe, use it in moderation at the right time.
