Rumors and leaks about the arrival of the new family of iPhone 12 smartphones continue to accumulate over the past few days, with the latest information coinciding with one fact: the iPhone 12 will arrive late. While last week we received anonymous confirmations from within the Taiwanese supply chain, now it has been another major distributor like Broadcom, who has again confirmed the change of dates.
However, we would still be talking about 2020. According to Apple’s schedule, the company should announce the new iPhone 12 in mid-September, with product availability not far behind. A time that would imply that Cupertino company should have started ordering the components by next July.
However, as explained by Broadcom, in an interview initially focused on reviewing Broadcom’s financials, CEO Hock Tan himself said that “one of our large North American mobile phone customers would normally have contributed to a double-digit increase in the last revenue figures presented […] but we don’t expect to see this increase in revenue until our fourth fiscal quarter“.
Statements by analysts close to the company that describe Apple’s investment in the iPhone 12 confirm Bloomberg’s earlier leak, suggesting a new launch date of late October or early November.
While this won’t be the first time an iPhone has been delayed, it is still a historical rarity, but no less predictable given the company’s known efforts to try to minimize the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Four months for the arrival of four models
However, these were not the only leaked details about the new iPhone 12. Although we already knew about the arrival of up to four models, now we can also anticipate some of its main features and specifications, as well as the starting price .
