More Russia unrest as fresh protests sweep nation over Ukraine war draft

More unrest has erupted across Russia over Vladimir Putin’s forced mobilization of civilian reservists in more than a dozen major cities.

After Putin called up 300,000 reservists Wednesday for his bloody war in Ukraine, protests against the mobilization have erupted across the country.

Hundreds of protesters were arrested, while thousands tried to flee the country.

Brutal riot police detained nearly 750 protesters in Moscow and St Petersburg, as well as Novosibirsk, Tomsk, Khabarovsk, Irkutsk, Ulan-Ude, Chita, and Ivanovo.

Dramatic footage shows officers removing protesters – some of whom have been accused of holding illegal rallies and, in some cases, discrediting Putin’s armed forces, which can lead to up to 15 years in prison.

Police detained a man in a park near Red Square and took him away while others shouted “shame.”
